Gulya was born in Uzbekistan and received her master’s degree from Tashkent State University. She came to the US with her family in 2001. Previously, she worked as a Research Specialist at The Rockefeller University performing pronuclear and blastocyst microinjections before joining the Melnick lab.

Outside of the lab, Gulya enjoys yoga, meditation, and learning Arabic language and calligraphy.
