Karolina is a Ph.D. Candidate in Tri-Institutional Computational Biology & Medicine program, co-mentored by Drs. Ari Melnick and Christopher Mason. After gaining her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Bioinformatics at the University of Warsaw, Poland, she worked as a Software Engineer at the Center for Public Health Genomics, at the University of Virginia. There, she worked on developing novel methods of multi-omic data integration and integrative analysis. Currently, she investigates the potential of utilizing cell-free DNA to monitor the rapid epigenetic changes arising in lymphoma patients as a result of disease and therapy, as well as in astronauts as a result of unique spaceflight conditions.
Karolina is a President of NGSchool Society (https://ngschool.eu/) - a non-profit, NGO with the goal of supporting scientists, fostering international collaborations, and providing excellent training in the area of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology.
Fun fact: When she's not planning the next analysis, Karolina plans quests for the D&D campaign she runs for other grad students!
